Why does that happen? any time i have to install something, anything, it says

The original files have been written over, please insert wind2000 disk to continue installation
and if i do that, it tends to use old cd drivers to overwrite the good ones

How can i get rid of this prompt from EVER appearing again?

Every dumb windows prompt adds up, i want the prompt gone ya hear??

thanks

Does it mention the file names that have been overwritten?

Nope

It just says to maintain system stablity, please insert windows disc, since some files have been overwritten.

But maybe the computer is just being a dork, its suppose to write over files if you are installing new drivers, thats what it is

I know there are settings reguarding prompting about system file overwrites. I'm on XP here at work, can't get to my 2K box till lunch. I might can find it real quick when I swing by my house in a few hours.

Do you recall the name of the virus? If you do, I'd recommend searching for it on Symantec or internet and find out that way...
