Hey guys! Well, my parents finally cracked, and we're getting a cable connection installed this friday. My mom actually suggested the idea but....I need to setup a wireless network.
There are two PCs, and one printer. The printer needs to be remotely networked....the wood stove is torture on those cartridges! Help? How do I do this? What gear do I need? Where's the best (cheapest) place to get it? -Z |

well D-Link and SMC has routers with printer servers on them but that depends where it's going to be. or you can get a wireless printer server, D-Link and Linksys have some.
cheapest spot would probably be somewhere like newegg or mwave |

Yeah it depends on the location of the cable wire and the computers. I have my cable connection going through my cable modem into my 4-port wireless linksys router. From there it hardwires (straight Cat5 cable) into my main PC and my server. The multimedia PC downstairs has a wireless card in it to connect and the laptop has one as well. My printer is connected straight to my server and it is shared from there. You can also go the route of wiring the printer to the router if your printer has an ethernet port, or into a print server if it doesn't. I picked up my wireless gear on ebay. I got it brand new for about half the price of MSRP. Give ebay a shot. Be sure to make sure that everything is the same standard (802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g). .11g is the newest, I'd go with that although many routers/cards support two standards now days.
