Background:
I'm thinking about getting a digital camera. I'd like a 3MP model in case I want to print some of the pics I take, but the vast majority of pics will exist only in digital state. Also, I know zero about any kind of image editing outside of MS Paint.

Problems:
1) I'm a cheap bastard.
2) I need a way to reduce image sizes (say, from 3MP to 2MP) for easier electronic storage/display.

Question:
Is there a free Windows program (or even a cheap one) that is capable of high-quality image size reduction? Would any generic software-that-was-bundled-with-my-cam do this, or would I have to lay out $50+ bucks for something that would do the job well?

All you have to do is right-click on the image file and there should be an option to resize the picture file. I believe it supports your typical resolutions ... from 640 x480 to 1600 x1200...
