Well, my old Lite-On CDR drive has finally bit the bullet, and I'm needing a replacement. I haven't really been following the computer hardware scene lately since my priorities changed, so I've no idea what DVD R+/- are or whatever drives are best for daily needs....any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Basically I want the drive that can write DVDs and CDRs while also having the ability to play them at decent speeds.
Oh yeah, and I'd like to keep it under $80 if possible.

Thanks!

I just ordered a DVD burner. From what I read the NEC3500A's are excellent burners for a good price, and are dual-layer capable.

go with the plextor PX-716A..<<best 16x burner out there. I have it!
you can't go wrong with plextor (the leader in burning roms)

you can find them for more than the NEC, but the plextors come with a $30 rebate, but i think that rebate ends soon.

I'm going to pick up a DVD burner today. Since none of the local stores carry the NEC drive I'm going to go with the Sony DRU-710A reccomended by MaximumPC.
