Well, I got the corrupt bios issue fixed, now I have another problem.

System:

XP2600M
NF7-S V2.0
Visiontek x800Pro
1gig Patriot XBL RAM(tccd)
WD1600 160gig hd
NEC 3500A DVD Burner
Antec True 480 PSU

I'm trying to install XP. The PC boots of the XP install CDROM like normal, loads a bunch of files, and then just hangs at the "Setup Is Starting Windows Message." I believe this is right before the EULA and partitioning screens.

I've tried the following:

tried with just one stick of ram installed(tried both like this)
unplugged the hd
turned off the mobo's sata controller in the bios

Things I haven't tried(yet)

boot from bootable floppies for xp(no floppy drive in this system)
swap out the x800pro for my 6800gt currently in another system
swap out patriot ram for geil ram(from another system)
Disable more stuff in the bios(not sure what to turn off)
Try a different PSU(this one was working fine in another system)
Swap NEC 3500A for vanilla CD drive.

Anyone here ever run into this problem? Feel free to throw out other suggestions, I'll try it. This system build has been a PITA!!!

Do you have another hard drive- I've heard of people having "issues" with large (120gig+) WD drives lately.

Also-go into the bios while running one stick of ram and up the voltages wee bit.

I'm wondering iif its the SATA controller on the mobo.(even though its disabled in the bios)


I got a few tips from Ignition that helped alot just now. He said when I get the message "If You Wish To Install Any 3rd Party Mass Storage Devices,SCSI,...........Press F6", press f6/f7 and go from there. When I do this, I get to a screen saying "windows can't find a driver for a mass storage device/controller" windows thinks is in my system. I get one option to ignore that and keep going, and another to load the driver from a floppy. If I tell XP to ignore it, it goes right to the EULA screen and partition screem as it should(finally). I can see all my drives, ect...

Its getting this driver hangup with the SATA controller disabled in the BIOS, so maybe its something else. Do you think XP Setup would ask for a driver for a device that is disabled in the bios? If it is, that doesn't make sense to me, but I don't know what else it would be.
