Normal ATA hard drives, like most drives and peripherals inside a computer, get power from the power supply using "molex" connectors, which are the big white ones. There should be several coming out of your PSU.

SATA drives starting using a new, smaller, black connector, but not all power supplies have the new connector yet. Luckily, many current SATA drives can use either type of connector - your hard drive is one of them.

edit: So, to reiterate... You will need to connect two things to your hard drive. (1) The data cable, which connects to the motherboard using a small, flat cable with a small, black plug. (2) The power cable, which connects to the power supply via 4 wires (probably two black, one yellow, one red) that go into a big, white plug.

your burner does not have to have the same interface as your harddrive, your burner will have an ide interface, and you hard drive will be sata, and that is fine.
