It *is* illegal to use the Beta unless Microsoft specifically sent you a copy for testing, but you can get it on just about any torrent site if you so desire.

Cool I thought maybe students could get it.

I had hoped to get some sort of a legal developement tester's copy.

Opps... I got a xp64 beta from microsoft... at one point I downloaded a leaked copy of longhorn, It ran pretty well but I was actually reformatting my hard drive and just wanted to install it for kicks. I only kept it on for a few minutes before I got rid of it. Didn't impress me all that much.

Yeah - I just wanted to play around with it, not use it for my primary OS or anything. You know, simple curiosity. Unfortunately at 667 megs or so I can't download it cuz I'm on dialup at the moment

Join the developer’s network, write the check and get your copy. Beware of the pirate copies. There is a lot of automatic reporting built in and MS will know who you are if the box is on the net.
