What's the best free webhost?

I'm finally getting a site together with all my pictures of projects and things, but I need to find a good host to keep it at. Personally I've always used tripod UK since they used to have a great transfer limit and allowed direct linking to images, but I think it's time for a new place.

The things I need most are: Reliability that the place will stay at the same address for a long time, Direct linking to images, A workable transfer limit, and normal FTP access. I don't care much about total space since I keep all my stuff small or scripting, I just want to serve up straight HTML with some small jpegs.

I have mine through 1and1.com ... my site is peterandsoojin.com. you can go and see the speeds... I get FTP access... and I got it when they were just starting up here in US (they are from UK) so I got 3 yrs free!

Even after my 3 yrs are up, I plan on keeping the service... in addition, they offer domain service for $6/yr!! Phenomenal, I say...

I don't like their ads too much.

Also, 30mb of space (with images hosted externally through my second photobucket account) is great for me.

Luck of the draw. Some of their servers are faster than others. Also, it is surely faster than geocities for hosting pictures. And more user friendly too.
