Zemo, Foobar question

Okay Zemo and others... two questions. I would appreciate any advise.
I have searched extensively here, at hydrogen, and sharkey.

1.) I have an Audigy 2 ZS running F2k (latest version 0.8.3). Both ASIO and Kernal Streaming work for me. But which is better, since I can run KS 24 bit (padded to 32) and resampled to 96K (is 48 better here?), and ASIO only works at 16 bit with 48K resampled. So, for my card -- KS or ASIO?

2.) I just got a set of Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Ultras. They sound really good, but subjectively to me they sound almost too bright. The funny thing is that I love bright sounding speakers. I personally prefer a titianium tweeter any day over a silk dome. But these Klipsch satellites seem way too bright at times. Maybe its my source (usually mp3s Lame APS or APE). I am hoping that they just need brake-in time. I have a pair of JMLab (same a Focal) speakers that are known for being bright, but they really calmed down after break-in and now sound excellent. Any thoughts/reassurances?

My Foobar settings:
-Output: ASIO or KS as mentioned above with Dithering soft or hard ATH noise shaping
-DSP: Volume Control, Resampler (SSRC) set to either 48K or 96K, and Advanced Limiter.

Thanks in advance (sorry for the long post)

-sw

Since Zemo seems busy (he's a college student so probably busy w/ finals!)...

1. It's rather a biased and personal thing... whatever your ear thinks is better.
2. I have ProMedia 2.1 and they sound anything BUT bright in my opinion...

Take out Dithering and Advanced Limiter and see if that makes them sound better...

PS. Oh and welcome to Fix-IT!

1. Asio! Asio is a more direct link between foobar and your soundcard. And the settings it works best on are the native settings of your soundcard, which are best. 16bit, 48kHz.

2. Give 'em some time to break in, but I wouldn't be too surprised if the tonal balance of MM speakers is off, but too bright isn't what I would have guessed. Good luck!
