Odd directories on storgage drive

I had a 200 gig maxtor external drive. The drive crashed. I was able to transfer most of the data over to the new 250 gig maxtor external. The issue I am having now however is there are 2 sub directories that are there that I cannot remove.

Directory 1 name: How to achieve a lower..
Directory 2 name: On the undernet server..

Both are named exactly as you see complete with the 2 .. at the end. When I first saw these 2 directories there was a duplicate directory with the same name minus the .. that I was able to delete. When I attempt to remove either directory I get a "Error Deleting File or Folder - Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or disk"

When I attempt to click on the directory to access it I get the error "G:\FTP\Music\How to achieve a lower.. refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information might have been moved to a different location."

Bottom line: What is causing this and can these 2 directories be removed? I have hundreds of directories on this drive. These 2 seem to be the only 2 that I have issue with.

No viruses per mcafees. Spyware clean per Adaware, SBS&D, Microsoft Antispyware run daily.

Are these directories on the old drive or the new drive? If they are on the old corrupt drive the Allocation Table may "see" them as there even though the data is corrupt and thus cannot be removed (hdd can't access those sector blocks to remove it).

if they are just on the OLd drive. then the old drive had a virus. IF they are on the NEW drive. Then a certain website is putting them on there.
