Win2k taskbar misbehaving

A couple days ago I decided I wanted to mix things up a little, and I moved my Windows taskbar to the top of my screen. Most programs dealt with this just fine, and recognized my new desktop borders*. Some apps, however, continue to spawn windows that are too high on my screen and so are partially covered by the newly-relocated taskbar.

Anybody else had this problem before?

*At this point, I should mention that my task bar is locked, always on top, and never hides.

try cleaning out these REG keys;
may have to substitute WindowsNT for Windows in the Key name
delete all the values within;
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\StreamMRU

and remove ALL the SubKeys beneath
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Streams
numbered 0-99
notice the entries in the "Desktop" subkey here, just for noticing,but can be deleted safely

and delete the value "Settings" within;
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\StuckRects

REBOOT

If you're worried you can backup/Export the Parent Reg Keys I list above before deleting their contents...but I've done it literally hundreds of times on 98 -- win2K may need some further disinfecting

Well, I found the source of the problem. I'm some kind of limited administrator on that computer*. The IT guys locked me out of the registry, which is why those keys didn't update when I changed my taskbar location.

*I didn't even know such a thing existed...oh, well...

That's done through "Policies" whether Group policies, User profile policies, OU's, whatever.
I had no idea this was a Corp puter
