Netgear WGM124 problem!!!

I bought the Netgear WGM124 router from ebay, it was refurbished. For the first week or so all internet was fine. but then lately, my internet would stop working after several hours. My network connections shows that i am connected, but i cannot go on websites or sign onto screennames or anything.. Is it the router?

P.S. when i get disconnected... i just disconnect the power cord on the router for a couple of minutes and then put it back in and then the internet works again.

If you never lost connectivity before adding the router, I would have to say that it probably is the netgear. Go into your router and enable logging if it isn't already. Then, the next time your connection goes down take a look at the logs and see if it was timing out or what...

Also do you use 2.4 GHz cordless phones? Those could cause problems also... and is it updated w/ latest firmware?

I bet you whenever a call either is made or comes in, your router will drop the signal!

Really? Wireless routers use 2.4GHz broadcasting frequency to work... and since your cordless phone also does the same, well, they will conflict. Some or most routers let you try using a different "channel" on the router. Change it and see if it helps...

Ya you think its bad in your house just try running a 2.4ghz WISP.....freaking phones..

the 900 mhz stuff is so much easier to use..too bad 1.7 up/down is all you usually get out of it.

I thought Jester said it best in the thread leading up to this one:
"The best Netgear router is not to get a Netgear router."

Not that it helps the problem at hand, but it's not much of a shock to hear about Netgear problems.

Hopefully your firmware upgrade fixes the problem. It never fixed any of the numerous Netgear routers that have crapped out on me.
