i have just read i another forum that there is no boot ini in windows98 only in win2000,nt and xp .could be true ? i am not an expert just asking?

Well, I forgot we were talking about Windows 98! It is true that Win 95/98 do not use the boot.ini file, but only NT based versions and later. The reason I was asking you to find it is because we need to know the controller and drive location that the 98 install is on in order to add it to the existing boot.ini file. You're best choice as this point is to reinstall Win98. Do not boot from the cd, but instead boot into XP and then put your 98 disc in. The windows installer should setup the OS boot selection for you.
