I have just bought some new logitech x-230 speakers that are randomly becoming staticy and poppy. I had no problems with static with the bose speakers i just got rid of. There are no wireless devices near them and playing with the cd, line-in, MIDI, and wave/mp3 volume controls doesnt help. However the random static does stop when i mute the master volume on the computer. The random static happens about every other minute or so and lasts from 5 to 30 seconds. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

Try plugging the speakers into another audio source (such as a cd player, etc.) and see if you get the same results. Also, are you using onboard sound or a sound card?

It isnt staticy when plugged into my mp3 player so im guessing there isnt a problem with the speakers. My sound is a PCI sound card. (creative SB Audigy if that helps)

Try moving your soundcard into a different PCI slot. It could be that your card is sharing an IRQ with a noisy device.

try to mute "cd audio" on your volume control. Try the same with "line in", and Microphone.
Sometimes these all produce "noise" on certain sound cards. If that fails, I'd move the sound card to a new PCI slot. If that fails, I would then check the case - sometimes static is feedback given from your motherboard grounding itself out somewhere on the case. |
