What speed is SATA2 coming at? and when?

I could've sworn it was 300 Mb/s. As for the release, last I heard it was this year or early 2005.

SATA2 will transmit at ~3.0gbps which is around 300KBps. SATA is fairly mainstream right now. It's not in every new machine but it's an option in almost every new machine. They can make controllers fasters and faster but we're not going to see much of a budge in memory storage transfer times until we finally move to solid state... and oh what a happy day it will be.
