Ok..
I am no security expert but after lots of experience with hijacking & losing security, I realized that there are some softwares I can't do w/o...
Here they are and just wanted to share/listen for advice...

1) ZoneAlarm Pro 4.0 (or other firewall)
2) SpywareBlaster 3.1 (awesome for prevention! and free!)
3) Spybot Search & Destroy 1.3
4) AdAware 6.0

Anyone have any other indispensable ones??

I'd change that to "A handgun that you can shoot well," a large caliber bullet won't do much good if it never hits the target.

And now for the much anticipated on-topic section of this post:
AVG AntiVirus, hard to beat when it works as well or better than anything else and it's free. Free as in totally free, no cost to you, not crippled in any way.

I'd recommend some kind of hardware firewall, whether it be a SOHO router, or a Linux box.

Yeah, once I get my spare machine(s) back (loaners) I'll be putting up a proxy/IDS probably.

I'm moving across town (starting tonight as soon as I leave work) and I didn't realize how many misc machines I have. Kind of weird when you forget how many computers you have. Anyway I'm definately looking forward to setting up my new home network. Every house is a whole new adventure

Yeah, I think that's pretty scary that us tech people are more excited to move because we get to hook stuff up then we are about actually moving... As sad as it is...
