To my dismay, I noticed only about a week ago that my front case fan died. I've been noticing for few months(!) now that my HDDs have been quite hot to the touch... Either way... I went to local computer parts shop and got me a 80 mm ThermalTake case fan for the front. I had to prop the dead one out from the rectangular plastic case and pop in the new one and spun it up. :shock: My HDDs were now VERY cool to the touch!! There was cool airflow all around them!! Holy moley, guacamole!! :shock: My rear fan seems to be dying as well as there's hardly any airflow there. I just picked up another 80 mm fan to replace it on my way to work. Let this be a lesson to you all (esp. moi!) not to underestimate the power of the case fans!! I put the side cover back on and man is this thing cool now!! This has been a lesson learned... |

Yep, the fans make big difference. It's all about the delta T.
While a good running fan setup is nice, the best is a fanless water cooling system. Not only is it silent, but it puts the user into an entirely new category of geek! |

Got my attention
I'm running 6 Coolermaster Ball Bearing (With Blue Led's) fans and they do a great job but: They're kinda loud... :-P
EDIT: Anyone know why that "Razz" symbol (:-p) didn't show up as a "smiley" Razz face? I have wysiwyg enabled... |
