HP start up problem
hi
My Parents HP ze4145 running XP and has an AMD Athlon is having some major problems. there is a battery problem but it work when plugged in, not worried about this. The Real Problem is when I start it up it looks like it working fine, shows the win XP startup screen then it just retarts itself. it will not go into windows or safe mode if I try it resarts itself. the bottom line is I either need to get it working (if its cheep) or get the data off the hard drive off. Please Help |

Have you tried booting off XP CD and go into setup mode and selecting repair option? See if that will fix things up...
Other than that, next step would be to format the HDD and start the install from scratch. |

I tried to run the recover cd that came with the computer but it freezes up or shuts off at differant times during the repair diagnostics

You should try to buy new HP laptop. These days, HP pavilions received most praises. Maybe only cheap acer laptops and new dell laptops which can match HP pavilion products. But for me, HP Pavilion HDX is still the best laptop
